Product Features
Boron has several allotropes, and amorphous boron is also called elemental boron and monomer boron. It is brown powder or gray lustrous crystals, chemically active. Stable in air and room temperature. Heat to 300 ℃ to be oxidized, 700 ℃ that is on fire. When burning, the flame is red, and the flame of micro-vaporized boron is green. Insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid, ethanol, ether. It is soluble in cold concentrated alkali solution and decomposes into hydrogen, which is oxidized to boric acid by concentrated nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid. At high temperature, boron can interact with oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, halogen and carbon, and boron can also directly combine with many metals to form borides. The reaction of boron with organic compounds can generate compounds in which boron is directly linked to carbon or compounds in which oxygen exists between boron and carbon.
Monolithic boron is in a special position in the periodic table that divides elements into metals and non-metals. It is an element dominated by non-metals, with strong negative electricity, small atomic radius, and concentrated nuclear charge. Non-metallic properties are similar to silicon. Its density is 2.35g/cm3. The hardness is 9.3, the specific gravity is 2.33-2.45, the melting point: 2300℃, the boiling point: 2550℃.
